My muse called me boring...

*chuckling* Well, that's what it seemed like. I was doing some editing of book two of The Elyrian Brides and I kept falling asleep! *chuckles*  It finally dawned on me that some of the action scenes that I alluded to but never went into need to be hashed out.

I thought they were going to be ugly to do but it turns if the scene I saw open up yesterday is any indication then it won't be as bad as I thought. I just hate throwing drama and hard times at my characters. Yes, I know, without struggle there really is no plot. I just wish that they could sail simply and easily into their ever afters. But that is not reality. Heck even fairytales have strife in them. And anything worth having is worth fighting for. Love is definitely worth the fight when you have the right person.

So while I'm hashing things out with Book II of EB and Seven's tale because I finally figured out where I was going wrong on her story too take a look at a short story I worked out with some people I know in real life. The names have all been changed except for one and she's a ghost so I hope it doesn't matter much. She's my friends' ghost and that is the name they gave her. We really don't know her name for sure. *chuckle*

This story was borne out of the belief that black folk wouldn't do horror stories. Well of course we can! And we would. You just have to have the right circumstances. *chuckle* I've even got a paranormal story floating around in my head. I hope someday to have the time to write it all down. New Projects

So, I've been kicking around this idea in my head for the past 10 days or so. I'm skeptical about it because it is a horror story and I just don't normally do them.  I've only done one and that was in high school for Lit class. I got an A on it.  My teacher liked the surprise ending. I was surprised she was surprised. *chuckle* Then, I usually can figure out where a story is going long before it gets to the end.  I stopped reading mysteries because the last one I read, I figured out who the murderer was by page 50 and I had a few hundred pages left to read. And it was a very good story.  It was even made into a movie. *chuckle* That's just the way my mind has always worked.

Still *shrug* my muse doesn't normally go in for that kind of stuff.

I thought it was just one of those ideas that swirl around my head for a moment and then disappears after awhile.  Then I saw how the story ends and realized, it could be my sort of thing after all. *chuckle* Now to figure out when, where and how it starts. I already know the why and a few of the who.

For the record, there is nothing wrong with Horror stories. I love a good scary story. Scary, not necessarily gory. I am a Stephen King stan! *chuckle* Though I haven't read any of his recent stuff. I've been too busy working on my own stuff.

Maybe when I get a few more of these stories out of my head, I'll have time to put some other people's stories into my head.

*chuckle* Took some time to negotiate with these here IPs.  They all want a lot of money but they don't seem to want to give you a lot of service. $50/month for dial-up service that they call high speed? Seriously? I think not. Luckily, there are still plenty of competitors who want and need my money.

I could just as easily post from an internet cafe but I like the privacy of my own place and space.

Story telling, for me, is a very private thing. I guess that is why it is so difficult for me to share it. I mean, I want someone to read and actually enjoy what I've written. I just want to practice the craft in private.

Has it really been 3 weeks????

Yikes! My 9-5 has been working me pretty hard of late. Maybe it is a good thing because as I stand and wait for things like the bus, copiers, elevator, lunch, etc I'm always thinking of my stories. I am running scenes and ideas on improving what I've written or new directions to go in.

Still, I hadn't realized it had been this long since I posted a chapter. To wit, Chapter 9 of TTOC.

Chapter 8 TTOC

This chapter just appeared before me. I could have sworn I was going straight from the Baltiry encampment to Landkire Beandi but my muse had other plans. So without further ado, Chapter 8 of TTOC.

So my writing process and why it is taking so long to just finish this story up

As always my persnicketiness gets in the way. I want it to be perfect. But it never is, at least to me. I took a break from TTOC and then went back and read it again. I see my timing is off again. I am always in a hurry to get to the end. *chuckle* So sometimes I miss a lot of the meat that goes into the story. Still I haven’t done as badly as I have in the past. I am getting better. Somewhat. *smirk*

If you notice, I haven’t described the men yet. That is because I haven’t sorted them out yet. I have a vague idea what they look like. Sometimes I can see my characters clearly right from the beginning, like with Seven. I saw Seven before I even saw her story. In the bag from the post below, I found the first draft of Seven’s story. *smh* It is so different from what it is now. It didn’t even start the same.

Then for some characters, as the story progresses I see them more clearly until I can describe them in detail. Still others come to life as I write or type. They just materialize out of nothing. Sera Beandi was like that. You’ll meet him shortly.

It really is an amazing thing to me to be part of this process. So without further ado, Chapter 7 of The Thief Of Callandaria.

I've been busy sorting stories and reading and working. I found another bag of stories above and I did make it through that. Yay me! I still haven't finished with the file cabinet but I'll take my victories where I can find them.

It is a hectic world and life. Sometimes it is hard to get or stay motivatated but something about my stories keeps me going.  And to that end tonight I upload chapter 6 of The Thief Of Callandaria.

I'm posting chapter 4 but I still haven't worked out the exit in chapter 13. I guess because I haven't been working on it. I've got another story kicking around in my brain these days. *chuckle* Would but that I had time to work on them all. But alas, my paying job takes up the lion's share of my days. Can't wait to see all these stories finished!  Till then...

I've been working on TTOC. I'm on chapter 13 *frowning* and I'm stuck. *sigh* I'm trying to figure out which way to go. I had an awesome exit planned for Seven and now...eh. I'll work it out.  While I do, here is Chapter 3.

So the picture above is the first page of the first ever draft of the first story I'm going to post here. Oh...mercy. *heart thumps* It is called The Thief Of Callandaria.

When I was a teenager I loved those old barbarian movies. I have no idea why but I did. One day I was watching one and all of a sudden, I didn't see the characters on the screen anymore. I saw my little cinnamon chocolate thief with her tings in her hair, trapped and tense with sword drawn for battle.

Her story is straight and simple and I hope you will enjoy it.
